Board of Directors

The Board of Directors is the highest body of the Royal Higher Institute for Defence. It defines the Institute’s policy and reports to the Minister of Defence. The Board establishes the strategy, and defines and evaluates the research programmes of the Ministry of Defence.
The composition of the Board of Directors is defined in the Ministerial Decree of 20 January 2014.
The chairman, vice-chairmans and members from the civil society are appointed by the Ministerial Decree of 17 April 2014.
The chairman of the Board of Directors is the Major General ret. Albert Husniaux.

Scientific Committee

The Scientific Committee, made up of scientists and research directors, guarantees the level of Defence research. It proposes evaluation methods and research objectives. It participates in the drafting of the research programme (ranking and selection of research projects) and evaluates its implementation.
The composition of the Scientific Committee is also defined in the Ministerial Decree of 20 January 2014.
The chairman, vice-chairmans and members are appointed by the Ministerial Decree of 17 April 2014.
The Chairwoman of the Scientific Committee is Mrs. Marie-José Simoen.
