15th Wing Air Transport in Melsbroek & 2nd Tactical Wing in Florennes
Before our visit to the Air Force, we received a warm welcome from Brigade General Aviator Bruno Beeckman (aka ‘Beeck’), auditor of the current session.
After a guided visit to the 15th Wing Air Transport in Melsbroek, we set course for the 2nd Tactical Wing in Florennes, a highly secured and sprawling domain.
The base commander took the time to present his unit to our auditors. Afterwards, we were treated to a demonstration of the F‑16 Fighting Falcon, the MQ-9B SkyGuardian and, of course, the recently arrived F-35A Lightning II which will eventually replace the F-16.
For the return trip, Brigade General Aviator Bruno Beeckman flew us back to the 15th Wing in the air force’s newest transport aircraft, the A400M.
