Our organisations are honoured to welcome Ambassador Delphine Pronk, Chair of the EU Political and Security Committee (PSC), who will share with us her perspective on the future of Defence in and of Europe. The PSC, which consists of ambassadorial-level representatives from all EU Member States and usually meets twice per week, is responsible for the EU Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) and the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP). It monitors international developments, decides on strategic approaches and policy options and submits them to the Council, and ensures political control and strategic direction of crisis management operations.
In a lively debate with the audience, Ambassador Pronk will focus on the increased role of the EU as a security and defence actor, illustrating the latest developments in light of the Russian aggression against Ukraine and other examples such as the situation in the Horn of Africa, on the decision-making processes at EU level as well as on upcoming challenges for the EU.
