Our visit to the Brussels local police and the federal police on 13 December made a strong impression on us.
After breakfast, offered by Senior Official of the Brussels metropolitan area Sophie Lavaux, we took a tour of the Brussels police crisis centre (not to be confused with the National Crisis Centre, which we will be visiting in a few months).
We were then given some informative briefings in the main building of the federal police, including in particular the forthright presentation of Commissioner-General Marc De Mesmaeker.
Finally, in the afternoon, we paid a visit to the special intervention units, who are celebrating these days their 50th anniversary.
