On 7 December, the auditors of the High Studies for Security and Defence visited our national Foreign Affairs Department.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sophie Wilmès received us at the Egmont Palace, where she gave us a general overview of the state and position of our country in the world.
Ambassador Koen Vervaeke then elaborated on the Belgian National Security Strategy, soon to be published. Ambassador Bruno Angelet explained the EU Strategic Compass and the NATO Strategic Concept. Then, Ambassador Bart De Groof shared his experience as a special envoy to the Sahel region and, to conclude, Ambassador Axel Kenes outlined the risks and challenges our country is currently facing with regard to multilateralism and globalisation.
