De onderzoekslijn “Defensie-capaciteiten en –technologieën” behandelt de capaciteitsontwikkeling en de technologische innovatieprocessen inzake veiligheid en defensie. In dit kader is het SCVD geïnteresseerd in de ontwikkeling van wapensystemen, robotica, artificiële intelligentie, het militair gebruik van ruimtetechnologie, de bescherming van kritieke infrastructuur, alsook de problematiek verbonden aan de markt voor de defensie-industrie.
